Getting Some Clarity

I recently graduated from college. It's taken a lot of adjusting and way too much introspection. I recently discovered I'd been spending WAY too much time in my head and I needed to step out of it and get back into some of my hobbies. As a result, I pulled out my camera, called a friend, and took a hike. Got some fun pictures and some great ideas for a drawing or two. Today I thought I should stay off Facebook for a bit and update my blog, since I haven't done that in a while. Since it's been a while, you get some pictures from my hike and some I took when a roommate and I went up Logan Canyon.
Enjoy!

Trying Something New

Originally I was going to post a movie I recently put together, but it wont load. I'll have to work on that. Instead, I decided to give you a couple of my Photoshop experiments. I will tell you this though, no one has permission to use any of these anywhere ever. Unless I'm mistaken though, 2 of the background images are pretty much free to use. The caption on the bust of Henley said that the image could be used for "scholarly or educational purposes." This be the honors system folks. I'm going to trust you not to steal my work. If you do post it somewhere though, give me credit at least...please.Thanks.
Enjoy!!

I will add that the background images do not belong to me. I found them on Google, but what you see here was created by me. The Shakespeare image can be found  at

I looked out the window and what did I see...

Since I haven't posted in a while I thought I'd stick these up here. For a couple years we've had at least 5 owls hanging out in our back yard at night. Just a few weeks ago my mom and I went outside and found 3 of them sitting in our apricot tree and I managed to attract their attention long enough to get some pretty good pictures.
Enjoy!

Long Time, No Post

It feels like it's been forever since I got online and posted to my blog. I've been a little busy with work, school, and a couple family tragedies so good picture opportunities have been super hard to come by. I did, however, come by one last fall that I thought I'd share during another photographic lapse. One of the departments arranged to have some Tibetan, Buddhist monks come to the campus and do a sand mandala. I, of course, had to go check it out because I love the opportunity to discover new things and learn traditions from religions that aren't mine. I got a bunch of pictures, though not as many as I would have liked. It was an awesome experience.

Enjoy!!

I'm hoping to take some pictures this summer. I'm also planning on buy a new camera and doing some stuff with my mom's old Minolta. It should be an adventure!

Mount Doom

I'm well aware that it has been too long. I've been working so I've been neglecting the opportunities I do have to go out and take pictures, in favor of staying home and reading books. I did, however, get some cool looking pictures on my way to work the other day. See, I work at the Wal-Mart in Cedar Hills. It's just South of Alpine. When I drove to work the other day part of Alpine was actually on fire and, as sad as it was, the smoke looked really neat coming off the mountain the way it did, and because I don't carry my SLR with me everywhere, I pulled out my phone and used it to get some shots. Here ya go.
Enjoy!!

I kind of thought this one was funny. It almost looks like the store's on fire.

 Volcano...anyone?

Haha, well so much for once a week. Looks like that was a bit of a fail. I got caught up with papers and finals and stuff that seemed a little more vital to my well being so posting kind of went to pot. I'm working on it though. The plan, if I can manage my time like a good little college student, is to go out this week and take some pictures around my neighborhood. I'll have to post them for whoever actually views this blog. I'm not sure anyone really does. Until later.
Enjoy!!

Some got 'em, Some Don't

See, here's my dilemma. When I'm in school I don't take all that many picture...with my camera. Since my SLR is a little too big to be hauling around campus all day I generally take pictures with my phone. This lovely laptop that I currently use at school has no card reader for my tiny phone memory card so I am forced to leave things as they are. That, dear friends, is why I rarely post anything. Here's the upside. I'm getting a new laptop that should have a card reader. It is being mailed to my house, and if it is at all possible I'm getting it as soon as I make it home next. Ah college, the lovely things I suffer for an education. At least I get one right? Anyway, I decided I should become a better blogger. Therefore, I shall make it my goal to post at least once a week and get pictures up as I take them. Thank you dear friends. Until next time.
Enjoy, and happy shooting!

Hmmmmm

I thought I'd change things up a bit and add some new pictures. Most of these were taken  in Idaho while I was visiting my grandparents. We drove up to the Idaho side of the Tetons then through Swan Valley for some square ice-cream. It was definitely a grand adventure with a lot of driving and some really beautiful scenery.
Enjoy!!
This was on our Idaho trip. I took a whole bunch of these cause I loved the rainbow at the bottom of the waterfall. It was loud, kind of chilly, and I'm pretty sure I got splashed a little but the view was gorgeous.

Hey, check it out! It's the Tetons! This has to be one of my personal favorites from the pictures I've taken. I love the view and the clouds over the mountains.

This one was in my front yard. Those silly hummingbirds guard the feeders sometimes to keep the others away. This one slipped through the guard and I think he was just content to just sit there and let me take his picture.
I'm pretty sure this is part of the Snake River. We passed it on our way to the Tetons and I'm pretty sure God is the only one that had a better view of this than us.
My mom loves to keep Hibiscus in pots in our dining room. They don't always bloom cause my stupid bird likes to chew the buds off. This was one of the lucky ones and since the flowers are so few and far between I took a picture of this one.

Oh, good times. One of the last times I got together with my high school friends before we graduated we all had a barbeque with a camp fire. The fire pit is in my friend's backyard. We ran out of wood and found this log by her house and one of the boys decided we should put it on the fire. So we did. Not long after it started to burn one of the guys started jumping over it and we were soaking him and the grass with a hose so they wouldn't catch fire. I took this in the dark with my cell phone so I'm surprised it turned out as good as it did.  Kind of fuzzy, but a cool shot none the less.

I love the sunflowers my mom makes us plant in the yard. I took this one cause I liked the shot of the bee. Now I look at it and the flower is blowing me a kiss.
Ducks, what more do I have to say?
I thought the tree was really cool. It amazes me that a pine tree can grow so well in rock. A beautiful day in Idaho and a magic tree that can grow in rock. AWESOME!

I HOPE YOU ENJOYED THESE. I WAS GETTING FLACK FOR NOT PUTTING UP SOME MORE PICTURES. THESE ARE SOME OF MY FAVORITES. HOPEFULLY YOU WON'T HAVE TO WAIT TOO LONG FOR ME TO GET THINGS DONE AND POST NEW PICTURES. IT'S BEEN CRAZY HERE SINCE I GOT A NEW JOB. LOVE MY JOB, BUT IT DOESN'T LEAVE MUCH TIME FOR PICTURES. OH WELL. ENJOY LIFE, AND AS EMERSON WROTE, "DO NOT GO WHERE THE PATH MAY LEAD, GO INSTEAD WHERE THERE IS NO PATH AND LEAVE A TRAIL." UNTIL NEXT TIME, ENJOY!

Home at Last

I have been away at school for the last forever and I noticed I packed up my jump drive of pictures, but now I am home and have my real computer with all my pictures on it. This is my first official post for those non followers.  I took all of these at the Hogle Zoo in Salt Lake City, Utah with my cell phone, and I am pretty proud of the results.
Enjoy!!

Baby Elephant

Baby Giraffe

Those are kind of stupid labels cause you can tell what they are but the fact that they are babies isn't really apparent in the picture. My trip was in January a couple years ago, thus the snow.

In the Beginning

I'm always hearing how people really like my pictures, and I got this great idea from my sister. She started a blog and I checked it out the other day and decided that a photography blog was a pretty good idea. Thus the title, Shoot the World. I'm not actually shooting anything, unless it's with a camera and my itchy shutter finger. This should be a grand adventure full of pictures and lots and lots of taken over storage space. :D
